This position will require the candidate to report and work from the office five days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

The fuel category manager will play a critical role in the organization's evolving supply chain for fleet-fuel and related liquid commodities by creating and overseeing strategic procurement practices and seeking opportunities to achieve best cost and service for McLane Company.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to:



  • Work across the fuel organization as a subject matter expert for site level and large fuel projects.
  • Plan and lead fuel sourcing and supplier strategies to achieve best cost and service that are aligned with business priorities and operational needs.
  • Identify, understand, and effectively communicate impacts from changing commodity markets
  • Establishing programs and contracts for commodities in a collaborative team environment.
  • Providing support and continuous improvement opportunities within functional team and across all business units.
  • Strong understanding of industry benchmarks including OPIS and Platts.
  • Lead cross functional teams to drive successful project and category outcomes/results.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to align business demands, category/contract strategy, and execution.
  • Develop and execute a reliable and effective fuel supply chain strategy, forecast fuel projections and plan for fuel market volatility.
  • Work to minimize negative impact of fuel disruptions.
  • Develop negotiation strategies and commercial terms with suppliers to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop and communicate sourcing recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Understand RFI, RFQ and RFP processes and support as required.
  • Lead supplier performance, relationship, and development activities to ensure compliance and high service standards.
  • Negotiate fuel sourcing agreements to achieve mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Maintain fuel sourcing contracts and develop vendor relationships for fleet fuel and related products.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
A teammate in this position must have:



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, business, or related technical/analytical field.
  • Master's degree and industry certifications preferred.
  • Experience in fuel procurement, project management, contract formation and negotiation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills are required.
