AESC is looking to add a full-time Senior Failure Analysis Engineer to our team in Florence, South Carolina.

The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply technology-leading battery cells for new electric models produced in BMW Group's Spartanburg plant. About the Role

As a key member of AESC US LLC, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission to lead in full-value-chain battery solutions for a sustainable future. Reporting to a Sr. Manager, you will lead the failure analysis of product (including cells, modules and packs from both EV and ESS areas) failures from validation tests and customer complaints with the joint efforts from quality, process and RD team]. Your work within the Reliability and Validation Center, RVC will directly impact our strategic goals and contribute to our position as a global leader in battery technology.

What You Will Do
  • Lead the failure analysis: Work mainly on product failures from validation tests and customer complaints and be responsible for the related technical documentation and communication with internal/external customers.
  • Collaborate on Product Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams in US and China to ensure critical product quality issues would be analyzed timely and documented.
  • Drive Process Optimization: Implement and customize the developed process from RVC to the local work environment to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of overall failure analysis business.
  • Support operation of local failure analysis lab: provide necessary to local failure analysis labs including method development, test quality check as well as efficiency improvement.

Qualifications
What You Need
  • Proven Experience & Educational Background: master or above education degree in battery related majors, including but not limited to chemistry, materials, chemical or mechanical engineering; Minimum of 5 years of RD experience in lithium-ion battery industry and 3 years of experience in failure analysis within the lithium battery industry.
  • Technical Proficiency: experienced skills for technical communication and documentation for internal and external customers to quickly analyze and mitigate quality issues
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is "Nice to Have"?
  • Multilingual Skills: Proficiency in Chinese languages beyond English is advantageous, as it aligns with our global operations and enhances communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Cross-Cultural Experience: Previous experience working in cross-cultural environments, or a demonstrated understanding of cultural nuances would be beneficial, given our global presence and diverse team.
Travel

Occasional domestic and international travel required.
