North America Technology Solutions

As a key pillar of NATS, the Design team (NA) comprises of a skilled team of Design Managers; experts in Engineering and Architecture. Our collective expertise is harnessed to create customized adaptations of the cutting-edge Vantage Data Center prototype that perfectly cater to the unique requirements of our customers. Throughout this process, close collaboration takes place with Sales, Operations, and management teams. The Design Engineering team also maintains a close partnership with the Construction team, working together to craft a seamlessly integrated design that ensures the efficient execution of new and existing standards and designs.

The Design Engineering team guides the development and operation of best-in-class data centers for hyperscale customers by providing business-minding Design and Engineering expertise.

Vision: To provide a sustainable, agile design program that enables precision development and effortless operation of the preeminent, safest data center program in North America.

Mission: Design a program to enable safe and sustainable execution of data center construction and operation, at scale. With a relentless focus on cross-functional partner's success, to enable swift, agile, and decisive performance.

Position Description

This role can be based in any of our US locations: Ashburn, VA; San Antonio, TX, or Atlanta, GA, in alignment with our flexible work policy. (3 days on site required, 2 days flexible), or remotely in the US. #LI-Remote

Vantage is seeking an entry level Design Coordinator to support the planning, design, and construction of mission-critical hyperscale data centers. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a background in architecture, engineering, or construction management who are eager to work in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

As a Design Coordinator, you will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure seamless coordination of design documentation and construction processes. You will gain hands-on experience in data center design, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems, and BIM coordination while supporting large-scale infrastructure projects. In this role, you will assist in the coordination, review and organization of design standards and processes to support the Design Management program.

Essential Job Functions

  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as liaison between internal and external teams (e.g., architects, engineers, contractors). Facilitate internal design meetings, track discussions, and communicate action items.

  • Document Control and Management: Manage design documentation, including design inputs, deliverable tracking and databasing

  • Design Quality Assurance: Ensure design deliverables meet predefined standards and specifications with internal Design Management team. Coordinate quality checks and reviews for all design documentation.

  • Programmatic Support: Support the Design Management team in maintaining project timelines by tracking progress and reporting status. Push forward milestones and deliverables with internal Design Management team.

  • Resource Management: Coordinate the allocation and utilization of design resources, ensuring the teams are adequately staffed and supported to meet project demands.

  • Project Oversight: Provide oversight and guidance to design teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and in compliance with design standards. Support the resolution of design-related issues, conflicts, and challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.

  • Project Management: Manage internal and external design teams ensuring their collaboration aligns with design goals.

  • Team Development: Conduct regular meetings with design team to provide feedback and address concerns. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by conducting Lessons Learned meetings and implementing insights across projects and regions.

  • Process Improvement: Develop and enhance design, procurement, and construction processes to streamline Operations delivery, including change management with consultants and contractors.

  • Stakeholder Interaction and Reporting: Foster strong client relationships by leading meetings and offering support to internal partners. Provide regular, detailed updates on design progress, risks, blockers, changes, and priorities.

  • Procurement and Vendor Management: Support procurement and regional project leads in the selection of local partners for design development, contract oversight, and Value Engineering (VE) implementation with the General Contractor (GC) and Engineer of Record (EOR).

  • Benchmarking and Quality: Drive benchmarking initiatives for internal regional alignment and ensure the highest design and construction quality standards.

  • Coordination and Integration: Be a proactive custodian and conduit for all design changes proposed by other VDC departments and third parties, ensuring decisive adjudication and, where appropriate, seamless integration.

  • Additional Duties: Handle additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, construction management, planning, architecture, engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution preferred. Alternative, relevant education or experience such as military service or exceptional experience/training may be considered.

  • 2+ years of experience in the data center industry

  • Familiarity with hyperscale data canters and their customers.

  • Professional engineering (PE) license or architecture certification is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel (15 - 30% expected).

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $90,000 = $100,000 + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)
