#CA-SS This position functions as a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field of Human Resources and has recognized expertise in specific areas. This position responds to all personnel and labor relations issues and requires extensive analytical skills to keep up with ever-changing school, campus, university, federal and state employment policies. The incumbent provides daily analytic support for both departments' human resource activities, and acts with independence regarding standard practices and is expected to provide final drafts of communications for signature. The incumbent utilizes personnel/payroll systems such as UC Path, Job Builder and Ecotime and oversees and performs the payroll and timekeeping activities of academics and staff for both departments. The position oversees the recruitment, advancement, compensation, and retention of all staff personnel employed by the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and PM&R. Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer of both departments, the incumbent works collaboratively to provide high-level analytical support. The incumbent provides information, policy interpretation, and development of new policies and procedures. In addition to the domain of Human Resources, this position is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day activities of the academic/administrative office specific to the Department of PM&R. Responsibilities include coordination of the department strategic planning under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer of both departments and deployment of physician resources across several clinical locations. Incumbent with serve as the liaison between high-level administrators within UCDH and outside agencies and is responsible for analysis and dissemination of information. This position is responsible for appropriately establishing organization systems, workload priorities and working independently with minimal direction. The incumbent is expected to work cooperatively and effectively with administrative personnel and faculty, as part of a management team. Department Overview The Departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Orthopaedic Surgery have combined rosters of 55 faculty members, 12 Fellows, 38 Residents, and approximately 70 staff and non faculty academic members.
