Position Description
ERT is seeking a highly skilled Software Developer with extensive experience in Agile methodologies and a strong commitment to clean code principles, consistently delivering high-quality software solutions through collaborative teamwork and iterative development practices to join a team supporting the Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking (SARSAT) system operations and maintenance contract. Managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the SARSAT program processes and distributes data to detect and locate ships, aircraft, and individuals in distress.

The Software Developer's primary responsibilities will include requirements analysis, software design, development, unit testing, and integration. This individual will work closely with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure the design meets system needs and project goals.This position offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated IT professional who thrives on challenges and seeks both personal and professional growth.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in general software engineering development in delivering mission-critical system applications, preferably supporting secure operational systems for US Federal Govt agencies. Education can be used in lieu of experience.
  • Prefer to have Java and additional experience in another programming language such as C++ or C#.
  • Experience with collaboration tools for Issue Tracking like "Jira" and Source Code Management like "Git".
  • Experience with automation tools and developing automated build scripts for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools like "Jenkins".
  • Experience creating and maintaining unit tests and integration tests using tools like "Maven" for Java and "CMake" for C++.
  • Expertise in developing solutions using Java EE and Java Server Faces (JSF).
  • Proficiency in Java with familiarity in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL.

U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a Common Access Card to enter the government facility.

  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and gathering detailed user requirements
  • Design and development of complex software architectures, considering scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Experience in object oriented programming, design patterns, web services and related technologies.
  • Experience with developing web applications in multi-tier architectures.
  • Understanding of web application security and secure coding practices.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications for software systems.
  • Familiarity with designing, deploying, and maintaining software in on-premise and hybrid cloud environments as well as transitioning on-premise workloads to cloud.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices, static and dynamic application security testing tools and reporting, software vulnerability management, and enforcing zero trust principles.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Education
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. MS preferred.

Location
Work is located at Suitland Federal Center, Suitland, MD with limited telework available.

Salary
The salary range for this role is $62,000 - $275,000/year. This range is a good faith estimate based on similar roles across the organization. ERT uses several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the position's scope and expected duties, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
