job purpose:

The Manufacturing Quality Systems Manager is responsible for development and implementation of manufacturing site food safety & quality programs in accordance with established internal quality systems and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Develop and support site ISO 9001 & Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification programs and coordinate audit activities. QSM will function as a quality and food safety representative to ensure compliance and execution of plant expansion, new equipment installation/upgrade, and new process implementation in accordance with food safety corporate standards, HACCP/FSMA principles, and all federal, state and local regulations in support of creating and maintaining a positive food safety and quality manufacturing culture and environment.

responsibilities:



  • Partner with enterprise Sr. Quality Systems Manager to incorporate all internal and corporate requirements into site food safety and quality programs.
  • Lead the site implementation of ISO 9001 & GFSI Quality Management Systems.
  • Provide consulting, technical support, and alignment with additional resources to support ISO & GFSI implementations.
  • Oversee attainment of required plant certifications including, ISO, GFSI, Kosher, & Halal as required.
  • Manage Document Control program in support of the Quality Management System including the standardization of quality system documents with LACF & PMO requirements.
  • Develop and support and site Internal Audit & Management Review programs
  • Assist with coordination, review, and follow-up of the Corrective/Preventive Action program in regard to plant certifications.
  • Support project engineering and operations teams in ensuring project design and implementation adheres to food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate availability of quality assurance resources in support of project completion.



skills/qualifications required:



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or closely related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in food manufacturing and quality assurance
  • Ability to obtain HACCP/Preventative Controls Qualified Individual & Better Process Control School certification
  • Knowledge of Federal and State food industry regulations including the Food Safety Modernization Act, Code of Federal Regulations, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance, Low Acid Canned Foods
  • Strong understanding and experience developing policy standards in support of plant certifications including GFSI, ISO, FSSC, Kosher, & Halal as required.
  • Ability to interact effectively with third party and internal auditors
  • Ability to influence management & enable the activities of employee teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer and document management skills
