Primary Responsibilities


  • Team leadership: Build, manage and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary research team. Set clear expectations and goals and hold individuals and the team accountable for achieving success.


  • Research Operations: Oversee daily research activities and ensure high-quality processes, including project intake, recruitment, data stewardship, and impact evaluation of all studies conducted by the team.


  • Methodological Expertise: Plan, execute, and analyze qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method studies from discovery to usability-focused research. Utilize various research techniques, such as interviews, surveys, ethnographic research, usability evaluations, statistical modeling, journey maps, service blueprints, participatory research, and diary studies.


  • UX Research Evangelism: Serve as a thought leader by communicating the value of user research to product stakeholders and demonstrating how insights can lead to tangible business outcomes. Deliver compelling research findings that highlight the importance of user-centered design.


  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with data science teams, product managers, operational teams, and other research groups to build strong relationships and ensure a unified vision for research.


  • Strategic Vision: Develop a long-term vision for research that aligns with business objectives. Work closely with product and design partners to craft research initiatives that drive business goals and enhance user experience.


  • Mentorship: Guide and support UX researchers and designers in their professional growth and promote user-focused research principles throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications:



  • 6+ years of experience leading all aspects of qualitative UX research projects, from scoping and participant recruitment to applying research findings to product and operations
  • 2+ years of experience managing a team of mixed-methods UX researchers
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with data science or analytics teams
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with VOC and community management teams in a digital product-focused context
  • Demonstrated expertise in remote research platforms, including DScout, Qualtrics, UserTesting, MUIQ


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience leading UX research projects in a B2B context and/or with enterprise teams
  • Experience conducting advanced statistical analysis of quantitative behavioral and attitudinal data to provide insights
  • Experience with Adobe Analytics, Glassbox
  • Proven exemplary oral and written communication skills. Solid presentation and facilitation skills, suitable for executive leadership level
  • Proven excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
