ENGINEER III - MECHANICAL

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ENGINEER III - MECHANICAL

  • Manage the upgrade, rebuild, installation and start-up of process equipment.
  • Provides leadership in the development of new equipment specifications.
  • Analyze key process measures and determine major issues and their root causes.
  • Identify equipment safety issues and implement solutions.
  • In addition, provide technical assistance and an interface function on process, product, and maintenance problems.
  • Manage outside resources including contractors, equipment vendors, and supply vendors for assigned projects.
  • Work within and develop the appropriate standards, specifications, and procedures, including but not limited to those required for production, technical, safety, and environmental activities.
  • Manage ordering of parts and supplies using Permac.
  • Define equipment engineered rates.
  • Review new process equipment and make recommendations for purchase/installation.
  • Manage the implementation of moderate-sized capital projects.
  • Responsible for parts and supply development and reverse engineering.
  • Understands opportunities for OEE improvements and leads OEE improvement initiatives.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE ENGINEER III - MECHANICAL

  • Four-year college degree in an Engineering discipline preferred. Two Year college required.
  • Five or more years of experience in an engineering support position.
  • Advanced knowledge of latest governing codes (i.e.: NFPA, ASME, SAE, AIST, JIC, etc.)
  • Skilled in the use of CAD systems (3D capabilities preferred), MS office software packages, and engineering design software packages.
  • Experience in applying sound engineering and design principles in development of manufacturing processes, process equipment and fabrications.
  • Advanced knowledge of water recirculation colling systems, compressed air and pneumatic systems, vacuum systems, hydraulic systems (pumps, valves, and control), and natural gas combustion systems.
  • Experience in dealing with fabrication shops and equipment vendors.
  • Experience in developing RFP's and RFQ's for the purchasing of equipment and services.
  • Experiences with field installation coordination and direction.
  • Experiences with equipment and process related ergonomic and safety designs and considerations.
  • Experience in working closely with and in support of plant production and maintenance personnel
  • Ability to work in a production-oriented environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to perform independent work requiring experience and independent judgment.
  • Application of recognized Project Management principles keying on Cost, Schedule and Performance in the implementation of projects.
  • Ability to apply engineering discipline training in the design of equipment and fabrications.
  • Ability to direct outside consultants, contractors, and material suppliers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
