SUMMARY: We are seeking a Social Services Manager to join our team, overseeing our Inpatient and Emergency Department teams. This role will work full time days, including on-call coverage (off-site) every 3rd weekend. Purpose of this position: Responsible for managing and coordinating social work services across the Hennepin Healthcare to include the emergency department, inpatient, and clinics. This position does not include oversight of psychiatric social workers in inpatient or outpatient setting or in home care services settings. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and manages social work services
- Establishes standards for services provided and monitors compliance / quality of services
- Manages personnel in the department including recruiting, onboarding/training and competency assessment and performance evaluations
- Consults on difficult case problems to mentor staff on problem solving and actions
- Prepares department budget, aligning with organizational goals and objectives
- Insures adherence to State, County and Medicare guidelines affecting social services activities
- Serves as resource person to staff and medical personnel. In collaboration with other department leaders, maintains contacts with outside resources in the post-acute care network to provide for continuum of care needs of patients
- Prepares plans related to and achieves annual departmental goals including clinical improvement, patient satisfaction, employee engagement, financial vitality and growth and prepares and maintains related reports as needed
- Establishes and maintains social services department and related program's policies and procedures
- In collaboration with other department leaders, maintains an integrated system-wide program of social services that meets the needs of patients, families, staff, and physicians
- Ensures that programs maintain clinically competent and adequate staff as needed to provide social services to expected patient caseloads
- Maintains responsibility for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, professional standards, and regulations
- ommunicates departmental, organization, and industry information effectively to staff
- Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general and department/service safety specific jobrelated hazards
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment
- Identifies real/potential problems affecting the services and uses problem solving methodology to address problems
- Promotes effective working relations both interdepartmentally to promote system-wide continuity of care
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social work required
- At least two years of management experience in health care or related field with experience leading and working as part of multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of management experience in social services preferred
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
- Ability to effectively manage company resources (i.e. budget and personnel)
- Skilled in overseeing the efforts of high-level department individuals
- Superb ability to motivate employees, inspire positive change within department and build strong teams
- Innovative thinker; Ability to contribute new ideas that support organizational goals
- Skilled in managerial duties (i.e. people management, performance appraisals, pay reviews)
- Skilled in modeling company values through daily interactions within the department, particularly with regards to health and safety
- Capable of supporting the work of the department
- High standard of ethics, discipline, and professionalism
- Skilled in fostering a positive workplace culture and building inclusive workplace teams
License/Certifications:
- Master of Social Work (MSW) degree required
- Corresponding MN licensure required (LGSW, LICSW, LISW)
