Job Summary

As a Nurse with Corewell Health, providing top-notch patient care is paramount. You'll use your critical thinking skills and the

nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. You'll be responsible for upholding the standards of nursing excellence as described by the ANA, including the code of ethics. You'll be a vital member of our team and strive to achieve the best possible outcomes, making a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Essential Functions
  • Communicates effectively with staff, residents and families. Assesses, develops, and maintains an individualized patient plan of care with the patient.
  • As needed, specified by CH entity: Performs Medication Administration Pass according to regulatory guidelines. Informs MDS coordinator of significant resident/patient changes needed for completion of the MDS.
  • Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
  • Acts as a patient/family advocate.
  • Evaluates patient's and significant other's educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals.
  • Observes and reports the patient's condition, needs and outcomes of intervention to the physician and other team members.
  • Identify problems and emergency situations, and initiate immediate "life saving" measures in the absence of a physician.
  • As needed, specified by CH entity: Teaches and supervises the care provided by CNA, LPN or other nursing service personnel according to regulatory and agency guidelines.
  • Implements the plan of care by providing nursing services, including teaching, treatments, diagnostics, and preventiveprocedures, regularly evaluating the patient's progress toward established goals recommending revisions to the plan as necessary and planning for termination of service or discharge. Assumes a leadership role and delegates appropriately to support staff to facilitate safe, quality patient care in a cost-effective manner.
  • Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the application of clinical paths, QA processes and other related activities. Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's degree in nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing must be obtained within 5 years who start in this RN role on or after January 1, 2017
  • Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license upon hire
  • State of MI Driver's License upon hire
  • Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA, American Heart Association within 90 days
  • Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA, American Heart Association within 180 days

Preferred

  • Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC, National Board for Respiratory Care within 90 days
