Corporate Accounting Intern

What success looks like in this role:

  • Develops knowledge and skills within a particular area or discipline.
  • Performs work assignments under the direction of a supervisor, manager or senior-level associate.
  • May work on an alternating (i.e., every other semester) or temporary basis, attending school or vocational training during periods of non-work.
  • Develops knowledge and skills within a non-technical discipline (i.e., Finance, HR, Marketing, Customer Service). Typical duties may fall into an area as described below.

Finance/Accounting:

  • Assisting with basic bookkeeping or financial tracking.
  • Assisting with expense reporting and reimbursements.
  • Supporting budget development and tracking (i.e., by gathering relevant data and creating spreadsheets).
  • Assist with preparation of SEC filings and month-end financial reporting
  • Prepare and post journal entries with applicable supporting documents
  • Support technical accounting team with updates to accounting policy documents
  • Prepare lease accounting schedules and entries
  • Assist with account reconciliations
  • Respond to both internal and external audit requests, as needed
  • Support the finance team with forecasting projects, as needed
  • Support the payment processing and collections teams in supporting working capital initiatives
  • Support in data validation related to ERP implementation

In addition to the above:

  • May help with general project coordination and progress tracking.
  • May assist with research and compiling information for reports and presentations.
  • May compile and organize information in support of general work group or project activity.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • Currently enrolled in a Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher with prior work, intern, or co-op experience desired but not required
  • MS Excel and PowerPoint skills are required; Exposure to financial based reporting systems such as Oracle are desired but not required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in work is a must as is the ability to set priorities and handle multiple deadlines
  • Must be a United States Citizen or have permanent resident status
