What you will do:

As the Legal Operations Senior Paralegal for the Johnson Controls' Law & Policy Department you will be responsible for providing paralegal and senior level support in connection with ongoing and special projects within the Company's Law & Policy Department (the "Department"), including Labor & Employment (L&E) paralegal support, e-Discovery and Legal Hold Process, Technology & Process Support, Vendor Management, and Records Retention activities. You will report to the Manager, Legal Operations, and will have principal responsibility for supporting the Department's paralegal and project needs.

How you will do it:

  • Coordinating third-party subpoenas and service of process, including government/regulatory subpoenas, and supporting attorneys to identify, review, and disclose responsive documents and materials in connection with subpoenas.

  • Managing the settlement payment processes in connection with L&E and Litigation matters.

  • Support L&E attorneys and/or paralegals with day-to-day management of litigation matters, including discovery and document management tasks, and special projects.

  • Provide administrative support to attorneys through contract execution. Support with the drafting and negotiation of legal documents.

  • Filter, prioritize and distribute all forms of communication.

  • Manage calendars and coordinate travel. Preparation of meetings, conference calls, event coordination and expense reports.

  • Assist with administrative support for various projects and presentations, miscellaneous administrative tasks as requested.

  • Drive spend management with utilization.

  • Support Department team members to review invoices, communicate, and coordinate with preferred law firms as to billing matters.

  • Support Legal Operations team in the preparation and review of various financial reports, metric tracking, dashboards, and scorecards for Department-wide use.

  • Support the reduction of paper and physical records, drive best-practices for enterprise and legal records management.

What we look for:

Required

  • Ten years or more of related experience with a minimum of five years administrative support of confidential legal matters.

  • Experience managing and coordinating high profile matters in a professional, assertive, and proactive manner.

  • Advanced project management skills; strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple, cross-functional global projects.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Stellar and unwaveringly sound judgment, agility to manage multiple wide-ranging matters, often competing deadlines, and eagerness to learn new areas of expertise as business needs change.

  • Proficiency with MS Word, outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred

  • Paralegal certification preferred.

This will be a hybrid position at our Glendale, WI office. We will consider remote candidates if currently working for Johnson Controls.
