Position Summary
The research assistants primary responsibilities of this position are to engage eligible participants in a research study examining predictors of academic and behavioral adjustment in Latinx youth.
Specific responsibilities include (1) scheduling participants for assessments; (2) running assessments; (3) assisting in processing of data including; and (4) other research-related tasks. The position does not require any travel and is for 40 hours/week.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Scheduling participants for assessments:

  • Proactively contact potential research participants through phone, email, and other approved methods based on study recruitment protocols.
  • Coordinate appointment times that are mutually convenient for participants and research staff.
  • Manage and maintain a detailed calendar of participant appointments, ensuring efficient scheduling and minimizing no-shows.
  • Send confirmation emails and reminder communications to participants regarding their scheduled appointments, including necessary pre-assessment instructions.
  • Handle participant rescheduling requests professionally and efficiently, documenting all changes in the scheduling system
  • Troubleshoot scheduling conflicts and proactively find solutions to ensure adequate participant flow.
  • Maintain accurate records of recruitment efforts and scheduling outcomes.

Running assessments:

  • Set up for lab assessments by gathering required materials and priming the study equipment (behavioral observations and physiological equipment).
  • Administer lab assessments to both children and parents in both English and Spanish including surveys, dyadic tasks, interviews, cognitive tests, physiological measures, cortisol samples according to standardized study protocols.
  • Assist with childcare for siblings and other young children that attend the assessment sessions.
  • Ensure that all study equipment runs properly throughout the entire assessment session.

  • Score questionnaire measures and cognitive assessments following prespecified criteria.
  • Code video-recorded behavioral observations for variables of interest based on a coding scheme.
  • Assist with database management.

  • Assist with lab organization and upkeep such as cleaning up after lab assessments.
