The Curriculum Content Designer & Project Lead is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of engaging, high-quality digital learning experiences within the Global Medical Education team. This role combines instructional design, curriculum development, project management, and digital content production to support global education initiatives.

The successful candidate will lead the content lifecycle-from concept through delivery-ensuring alignment with educational goals, global standards, and learner needs. This role will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), cross-functional partners, and regional collaborators to ensure content consistency, effectiveness, and global impact.

What will you be doing?

Curriculum Design & Course Development:

  • Develop and manage educational content, presentations, videos, and e-learning modules.

  • Support content creation by collaborating with S+N SMEs, and cross functional teams

  • Review, update, and enhance existing content to ensure relevance, accuracy, and engagement.

  • Oversee content organization, structure, and accessibility in the LMS and content repositories.

  • Optimizes digital learning assets for online, mobile, and hybrid delivery

  • Develop interactive learning materials, case studies, procedural guides, animations, and digital assets in collaboration with S+N SMEs and cross functional teams.

  • Responsible for approvals, reviews, and learning platform administrators to prepare for content deployment

Project & Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage multiple curriculum and content development projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align content with learning goals.

  • Lead regular content strategy and review meetings to ensure stakeholder alignment.

  • Develop and maintain content roadmaps, project timelines, and workflow processes.

Content Effectiveness & Adoption Measurement:

  • Develop and implement methods to measure the effectiveness and adoption of educational content.

  • Gather and analyze learner feedback, engagement metrics, and performance data.

  • Continuously improve content based on data-driven insights and learner needs.

Global Education Communication, Localization & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Drive consistent global communication strategies for education initiatives.

  • Ensure best practices, resources, and updates are shared across teams worldwide.

  • Develop frameworks for knowledge sharing and content standardization across global education programs.

  • Adapt and localize content for regional markets, ensuring relevance and cultural appropriateness.

Relationship Development

  • Consults cross functionally and globally to integrate digital education into the learning pathways of customers

Compliance, Ethics, and Communication

  • Embraces Smith & Nephew Business ethics, adheres to stated corporate compliance policies, represents Smith & Nephew appropriately at all times, and holds direct reports to the same standards

  • Exhibits professionalism with Senior Leadership, marketing peers, direct reports, and all other internal and external customers

  • Communicates effectively and professionally regarding portfolio performance and recommendations of business strategies with Senior Leadership Team, cross functionally and cross franchise

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education:

    • Bachelors degree in an Instructional Design, Education or related field required.

  • Certifications (optional but beneficial):

    • PMP (Project Management Professional)

    • CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 5-8 years' experience in medical education or health related field in the medical device industry

    • 3 years' experience in instructional design and digital education

  • Proven track-record of cross functional alignment and successful project execution experience collaborating with and delivering amongst a highly matrix environment

  • Experience in working in a variety of delivery methods such as digital learning, classroom, virtual and blended learning

  • Solid understanding of evaluation of learning programs

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and application in education settings

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) is a plus

  • Moderate skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, LMS software, and digital education content development

  • Highly effective interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with internal and external customers

  • Strong understanding of digital and hybrid learning strategies

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)

  • and tools (Asana, Microsoft Project)

  • Ability to adapt and respond to customer needs

  • Pragmatic problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent influencing, negotiating and conflict resolution skills

  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail (planning, prioritization, objective setting, and implementation)

  • Travel Requirements: +/- 20% travel

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $94,000 - $125,000.00 USD annually. In addition to base pay, the candidate is eligible for sales commission, incentives and benefits, which include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401k, tuition reimbursement, medical leave programs, and a variety of wellness offerings.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
