The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University has a student body of 1,200 undergraduates, 260 graduate students, and 70 primary and 73 program faculty. The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering (https://bme.gatech.edu/bme/) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in {Atlanta, Georgia} invites applications for a non-tenure faculty position as a Lecturer. Applicants will be considered at all ranks. The candidate must have expertise and professional experience and professional experience with medical devices, RA/QA activities, post-market surveillance, and regulatory filings (particularly with US FDA). The role is to teach engineering students the global regulatory processes for medical devices, how to conduct a global regulatory assessment, the use of consensus standards to meet medical device regulations, and how to locate reference materials required by individuals working as regulatory professionals regulating medical devices globally.

This role is to help engineering professional students to understand team dynamics and self-awareness while working in a team environment, how to "sell" their talents in a professional environment, how to manage their career, and how to manage up/down/and laterally within a professional business structure. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Lecturer

• Graduate degree in biomedical engineering or related area

Senior Lecturer

• Graduate degree in biomedical engineering or related area
• At least six (6) years full-time relevant experience

• A PhD in a relevant field and/or an equivalent amount (>10 years) of relevant professional experience. We ask that candidates describe the relevance of this training in their materials.
• Experience with undergraduate teaching, especially in engineering courses.
• Experience in professional education or corporate training is also desirable.
• Experience designing, implementing, and assessing student development activities to increase the use of evidence based instructional strategies in the course being taught.
• Experience in professional coaching, mentoring, and guidance.
• Extensive experience and understanding of how medical products enter the marketplace, are sustained during their active lifespan, and are removed from the marketplace while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
• Experience with design controls, document controls, regulatory audits, regulatory filings, and quality/regulatory affairs to support medical devices.
• Experience with product development, design reviews, and phase gate reviews.
• Experience in hiring, firing, coaching, mentoring, and promoting medical device professionals.
• Experience with medical device corporate leadership roles and responsibilities in managing the development of medical products.
• We value candidates who are collaborative, creative, and have high emotional intelligence; have experience creating and sharing stories in personal and professional spaces; and are comfortable modeling authenticity and vulnerability with undergraduate students.
