Tax Manager

Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepares tax provision schedules, returns, payments, reports & maintains company tax database
  • Prepares Federal Income Tax Returns
  • Prepares State Income and Franchise Tax Returns
  • Prepares monthly Federal and State Excise Tax Returns
  • Prepares Federal Census Reports
  • Performs research to evaluate potential opportunities to minimize Federal and State tax liabilities within the purview of the applicable regulations
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state & local tax regulations
  • Manages Sales/Use Tax returns via consulting services engaged to assist in preparation
  • Prepares and oversees real and personal property tax assessments by managing consulting services that assist in challenging property valuations
  • Prepares information required and manages consulting firm engaged to prepare forms 1099 & 1096
  • Manages Federal and State tax audits and serves as primary liaison with auditors
  • Prepares Tax Accrual calculations
  • Oversees the IT maintenance of tax preparation software, tax calendar, tax research and other tax software applications
  • Establishes company tax policies and procedures; provides training as appropriate to other departments
  • Stays up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, professional organizations, and professional networks
  • Evaluates design of Sales and Marketing incentive programs to determine appropriate tax liabilities and reporting requirements
  • Coordinates with the legal department to evaluate tax consequences of licensing changes
  • Handles additional ad-hoc requests as needed
Qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's preferred)
  • 8+ years of tax experience (10 years preferred)
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and interrelationships between P&L, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows
  • Deep understanding of GAAP and IRS regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to influence peers and cross-functional teams
  • Embodies a "hungry, humble, and smart" mindset

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
