Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institutes (OSUCCC-James) mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patients involvement in their own plan of care, and reducing the length of hospitalization, the staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care. Position SummaryThe Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and their family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. Minimum Education Required2-Year College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in nursing Additional Education DesiredBachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in nursing Required QualificationsDegree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. *Experience in relevant care setting preferred. Oncology Pod is a specialized unit inside of the Emergency Department that treats Oncology Emergencies. Onc Pod provides the traditional fast paced, high acuity environment of an Emergency Department, while also providing exceptional care that is accustomed to The James. Patients in the Onc Pod can present for a variety non-oncology related illnesses as well as illnesses that arise from oncology related disease progression. Since Oncology Pod is a smaller section of OSU's Emergency Department, there are very strong relationships between staff members leading to a supportive environment. Nurses have opportunity to develop numerous skillsets and create relationships with James's patients in an Emergency setting. |
