This Position reports to:

Business Health, Safety & Env Manager

As an HSE Specialist, you will contribute to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in their assigned area of responsibility to cultivate a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE. Supports the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge and offering solutions and advice. Ensures effective risk management through HSE excellence along the ABB value chain.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates HSE risk assessment conducted by the line management and ensures all necessary preventive measures against the identified hazards are implemented.
  • Reports HSE incidents to the management and relevant stakeholders and takes appropriate actions.
  • Facilitates, assists, and provides guidance on incident investigations to learn better ways for mitigating risks.
  • Provides feedback to the management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within their own unit and across ABB.
  • Supports the HSE Manager in reporting progress with respect to the implementation of the group-level HSE objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as required.
  • Assists the line managers and supervisors in understanding their obligations, liabilities, and requirements for role fulfillment, as per local HSE laws and group/business-specific requirements.
  • Supports and drives behavioral change through the local implementation of group-wide and business-specific performance improvement programs and practices.
  • Supports and embeds an exemplary health and safety culture with a strong focus on the environment across their respective organization.
  • Ensures that the appropriate HSE-related equipment and tools are available and used effectively.
  • Contributes to and/or plans and executes HSE-related projects.
  • Develops project objectives and reports the progress to management.
  • Engages with external stakeholders (e.g., customers, suppliers, relevant authorities) and internal stakeholders to report on, raise awareness of, gain commitment to, and obtain objective feedback on ABB's HSE efforts and performance.
  • Collaborates with other functions and business partners to drive HSE performance.
  • Identifies the need for, plans, and initiates training for employees, Site Managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Supports the HSE Manager in managing project resources with respect to staffing, financial management, and other relevant aspects.

Your Background:

  • Experience in HSE and engagement with external stakeholders (e.g., customers, suppliers, relevant authorities) and internal stakeholders to report on, raise awareness of, gain commitment to, and obtain objective feedback on ABB's HSE efforts and performance.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety or equivalent degree.
  • CSP, CHST, ASP certification or OSHA 510 strongly preferred or willing to sit for the certification.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, local safety laws, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Sound/ethical judgment, strong leadership skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Experience managing contractors and software in ISN and Procore required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite. CPR/First Aid Certified.

Comp Range: $92,500-$171,500 Annually. This range is based off of experience and the ability to perform tasks/goals appropriately.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $98,700 and $157,920 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
