As a member of RSM's General Counsel's Office, you will assist a team of

attorneys supporting RSM's business.

Duties include:

  • Provide counsel to HR and business leaders on domestic and international employment, benefits, and immigration law

  • Assist with domestic and international employment litigation including discrimination and retaliation claims, whistleblower claims, wage and hour, and ERISA/severance claims

  • Advise on matters related to employment agreements and compliance with restrictive covenants

  • Partner with HR regarding investigation of internal complaints

  • Assist in responding to pre-litigation demands and EEOC/agency charges

  • Advise and train on recruiting, hiring, performance counseling, accommodations, leave, terminations, pay equity, pay transparency restrictive covenants, and domestic and international employment laws including: FLSA, ADA/ADAAA, ADEA, Title VII, EPA, FMLA and local leave laws

  • Manage reporting of claims to applicable insurance policies and carriers and assist with annual insurance policy renewal

  • Advise on domestic and international corporate transactions with respect to employment matters

  • Review and revise domestic and international employment policies

  • Analyze and advise on compensation matters including exempt status and pay equity

  • Provide updates regarding legislative and regulatory changes

  • Advise on contract terms for relevant providers including staffing providers and compliance vendors

  • Work collaboratively with data privacy, professional liability, and corporate counsel

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • JD and member of any state bar in good standing

  • 8-12 years of relevant employment law experience with law firm or in-house experience

  • Litigation and counseling experience

  • Deep expertise and working knowledge of US employment laws.

  • Knowledge of Canadian/India/El Salvador/UK/EU employment law a plus but not required

  • Superior work ethic and high-energy individual

  • Excellent communication skills, must be articulate and possess critical thinking and writing skills

  • Ability to work effectively with internal clients, senior executives, and Firm personnel in multiple departments

  • Demonstrated success in influencing and engaging stakeholders, building collaborative relationships while managing conflicting priorities

  • Ability to balance legal risks with business objectives and propose strategic solutions

  • Strong attention to detail, well organized, and able to manage numerous projects and deadlines simultaneously

  • Positive attitude and willing to tackle wide range of routine to complex projects in a high-volume environment

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $209,300 - $370,700

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
