Harmony Biosciences is recruiting for a Vice President, Head of Medical Affairs in our Plymouth Meeting, PA location. In this role you will oversee and provide leadership to the medical affairs team by defining and driving the medical strategy, ensuring scientific rigor and alignment with company strategic priorities. This role will oversee the development and execution of medical affairs plans to support product development, product launches, lifecycle management, and patient engagement; as well as provide thought leadership on medical, scientific and clinical trends in Harmony's therapeutic areas, shaping the strategic direction of the company's portfolio.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic leadership for Medical Affairs by overseeing strategy, publications, operations and field medical teams and grow the organization to meet the current and anticipated growth of the company.
  • Establish and sustain trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patient advocacy groups, policymakers, and scientific communities.
  • Drive Integrated Evidence Generation in collaboration with R&D, Market Access and other key stakeholders.
  • Drive thought leadership through participation in high-profile medical and scientific forums, publications, and industry collaborations.
  • Prepare the team for product launches in the current and potentially new therapeutic areas
  • Strengthen the focus of the Med Affairs team by identifying and prioritizing key areas that align with the company's mission and stakeholder needs.
  • Implement robust processes and systems to ensure the delivery of high-quality medical initiatives and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement within the Medical Affairs team.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing Medical Affairs team, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and professional growth.
  • Define clear metrics to measure the impact and success of medical initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall organizational objectives.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of medical affairs activities and adjust strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Partner with R&D, Regulatory, Commercial, and Market Access teams and other key stakeholders to ensure medical insights are integrated into product development and commercialization strategies.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and patient advocacy groups, to advance the scientific credibility of the company and its products.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and regulatory discussions.
  • Ensure all medical activities comply with regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (M.D.) with board certification is required; Board certification in Neurology or Psychiatry is highly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience leading a Medical Affairs team required, including experience with:
    • Driving transformational medical strategies
    • Neuroscience and/or Psychiatry
    • Launch experience (highly preferred)
  • Additional experience in clinical development, or related fields within the pharma industry is preferred.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with internal and external business partners
  • Experience in working with alliance partnerships, co-development, co-launching of products is desired but not required.
  • Proven experience and success in a growth environment, demonstrating agility and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong understanding of clinical development processes, regulatory requirements, market access and compliance
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Experience in building and leading high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate scientific insights into actionable business plans.
  • Expertise in navigating complex regulatory and compliance environments.
  • Proven track record of building relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and key opinion leaders.

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Domestic travel is estimated to be 30% of the time for this position.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision.
  • Manual dexterity required to use computers, tablets, and cell phone.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 20 pounds.
  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods.
