PURPOSE:

Our organization is searching for a dynamic individual to join us as General Manager, Calumet Montana Refining / Montana Renewables LLC. The successful candidate will be responsible for all operational and economic aspects of asset performance. All objectives will be met through effective leadership and teamwork. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and environmentally compliant production of quality fossil based fuels and renewable products and having done so in an efficient and productive manner.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Ensure the health and safety culture comports with Calumet principles and that management systems are in place to assure a safe workplace.
  • Ensure a culture of environmental compliance and risk management using proper management systems.
  • Ensure quality products are produced and quality systems are in place to assure products meet specifications and are produced efficiently.
  • Heavily engage in economic understanding, asset optimization, and acts as a leader/influencer throughout the entire value chain.
  • Understand cost structure, cost drivers and trade offs between cost and profitability in order to optimize operating expenses.
  • Assure organizational effectiveness through appropriate organizational design, strong leaders and a healthy team dynamic that starts with clear expectations and alignment.
  • Act as a "business owner" and interact as a key influencer with the commercial teams on the raw material as well as the product side.
  • Engage with corporate on union negation strategies, manage local union matters and provide leadership and insight to assure strong, healthy interactions.
  • Indirect leadership and alignment with corporate resources including HR, Procurement, Operations Excellence, Legal, Accounting, etc.
  • Assure a learning culture driving continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Lead and influence community interaction and communication strategies.
  • Participate in governmental affairs as requested.


REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • Experience as plant leadership team member


PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:



  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering
  • MBA is a plus
  • Former experience as a Plant Manager
  • Former experience in economics and planning; LP optimization is a plus
  • Experience in successfully directing and developing leaders
  • Working with Unions
  • Culture change initiatives; organization redesign, etc.
