Temporary On-call Archaeological Technician

Ball State University welcomes applications for Temporary On-call Archaeological Technician.

Perform Phase 1, Phase 2, or Phase 3 archaeological surveys and related laboratory analysis as assigned by Director, under direction of Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator.

Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field by time of appointment.

At least 120 hours of archaeological experience in Cultural Resource Management or under similar working conditions.

Training in laboratory analysis of prehistoric cultural materials.
Attendance at an archaeological field school, particularly with a pre-contact component.

200+ hours of Cultural Resource Management experience in archaeology.

Perform reconnaissance survey, including surface collection and/or shovel test pit survey.

Record standard field notes, including photographs, maps, and textual descriptions as appropriate.

Collaborate with team members to accomplish project goals.

Perform, independently or as part of a team, test unit excavation in controlled manner.

Other related duties as assigned by Principal Investigator or Crew Chief.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
