Description Position at Banner Industries Castle Metals has over 130 years of experience as a leader in the metals service center industry. This is a 2nd shift position. Hours: 2pm - 10pm PURPOSE: The machine operator is a critical team member for the Paramount, California operation. They will safety use machines to process customer orders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (performs other duties as assigned): * Sets up and operates cutting machine(s) in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. * Utilizes power equipment to process materials according to customer order requirements. * Safely adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications. * Notices and reports defects and/or excessive wear and tear of equipment; Performs set-up and preventative maintenance of equipment. Maintains a safe work environment * Responsible for special projects as assigned. * Assists with Warehouse Operator responsibilities as needed: o Loads and unloads trucks in an efficient manner. o Performs a variety of material movement tasks for order filling, receiving, and loading. o Safely uses assigned power equipment to move material and meet order requirements (crown truck, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, fork lift). o Follows customer requirements to select, fill and package orders. o Attaches bundle tag to material being shipped and stages for shipment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Two years of relevant machine operator experience, preferably in the metals service center industry * Capable of being certified in assigned equipment (forklift, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, etc.) Basic measurement competency Basic math competency Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a warehouse environment Strong work ethic PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS: Manual dexterity (grasp, hand/wrist movement) Stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach Push/pull Light lifting (25lbs or less) Heavy lifting (25-50lbs) Exposure to powered industrial equipment Operates machinery and/or power tools Operates motor vehicles or heavy equipment Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to training plan We are an Equal Opportunity Employer Please view Equal Employment Opportunity Posters provided by OFCCP Company Overview: Founded in 1890, A.
