Job Summary

Supports the mission of the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) by providing immigration advice, student and scholar programming coordination and assistance, and administrative support services at the Modesto Maidique Campus.

  • Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Advises international students on immigration issues, educational, social, cultural, financial, and personal concerns.
  • Interprets federal, state, and local laws and regulations and advises international students concerning the requirements for maintaining lawful non-immigrant status in the United States.
  • Keeps abreast of changing regulations, laws, and world conditions which affect international students and scholars.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records in accordance with University, State and Federal regulations.
  • Communicates changes in regulations to students, scholars, and the University community through presentations, emails and notices.
  • Delivers presentations to faculty, staff, and student groups. Serves on committees as needed.
  • Monitors International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) website and coordinates information updates as needed.
  • Assists with international student programs and International Education Week.
  • Assists with planning and implementation of the International Student Orientation each term.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.
Departmental Requirements

  • Must be a lawful permanent resident or citizen of the United States as required by the Department of Homeland Security for designation as a Designated School Official.
Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with international students or cross-cultural experience preferred.
