Basic Job Functions:



  • Responsible for the set-up, operation, and all maintenance on the equipment. Daily preparation of high-purity semiconductor compound. Assists with quality control procedures to meet product specifications. Maintains general housekeeping and cleanliness in the production area.


Education/Experience:



  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2-year technical degree in Electrical or Maintenance field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as a CdTe Technician I at First Solar OR

    • 2+ years of experience in powder material compounding or similar related material process experience OR
    • 3+ years of experience in a related field (Maintenance, Semiconductors, Automotive, or Compounding, etc.) OR
    • 4+ years of manufacturing experience.

  • High purity materials experience preferred.
  • High temperature furnace experience preferred.
  • Metals processing experience preferred.
  • Power processing experience preferred.


Required Skills/Competencies:



  • Advanced mathematic skills (i.e. Jmp/efficiency measurements).
  • Full knowledge and ability to use Oracle to create work orders and complete PM's (preferred).
  • Ability to understand and apply TOC and SPC concepts.
  • Ability to understand and practice LOTO requirements.
  • Production machine/system operating experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or chemical systems.
  • Able to perform all PM's.
  • Ability to work independently with no supervision.
  • Audit shift data for quality check.
  • Familiar with change management processes.
  • Capable of troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrates First Solar Core Values through behaviors.


Essential Responsibilities:



  • Operates assigned Maltz equipment and performs tasks related to the Maltz process, following established procedures that are outlined in the work instructions.
  • Adheres to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
  • Follows all EHS procedures regarding hazardous materials.
  • Works in a team environment to optimize the output of the Maltz while maintaining high-quality product and minimizing scrap.
  • Follows all quality control procedures.
  • Reports production accurately on both manual and electronic systems.
  • Ensures the equipment is running properly and performs all maintenance and PMs as required.
  • Works with engineering and/or maintenance team to run tests, identifies/troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, and identifies/troubleshoots quality deviations.
  • Weighs materials for processing.
  • Makes process batches.
  • Loads and unloads furnaces.
  • Maintains environment to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Packages finished product for storage/shipment.
  • Performs daily shift pass downs.
  • Collects, maintains, and interprets data for engineering studies using Microsoft Excel or a similar program.
  • Participates in Risk Assessment studies (JHA's, FMEA, LOTO and Work Instructions).
  • Assists with coordinating the day-to-day operations and tasks.
  • Train associates (i.e. Technicians- Cdte I).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:



  • Reports to Supervisor- Technical I.
  • This position will not have direct reports.


Travel:



  • 0% - 5% (On occasion/as needed for training, etc.)


Estimated Salary Range:



  • $20.63-$28.85 Hourly.

Manufacturing & Maintenance Physical Requirements:



  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to; steel-toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection).
  • All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
