DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The role of a Driver License Examiner Assistant is situated within a Driver License Center, where the primary focus is to deliver driver licensing services and related assistance to the public. This position entails a range of responsibilities, including professionally welcoming customers, verifying applicant identification, and facilitating the completion of application forms. Additionally, the assistant is tasked with inputting data into online driver license application software and distributing relevant forms and informational brochures tailored to customer needs.

The assistant also administers standardized knowledge assessments to gauge applicants' comprehension of motor vehicle regulations, driving laws, and traffic control devices. A vision screening is conducted for all applicants using a telebinocular instrument to assess visual acuity. Furthermore, the assistant is responsible for entering test results and customer applications into online software systems via a PC terminal.

In this role, the assistant independently addresses inquiries and concerns from the public, requiring a thorough understanding of the services offered and the specific requirements for each, including the criteria for obtaining REAL ID or non-REAL ID products. The assistant provides guidance on various services, such as renewing driver's licenses or identification cards, issuing duplicates, facilitating out-of-state transfers, and assisting with motorcycle licenses and commercial driver's licenses (CDLs), while being well-versed in the associated restrictions and endorsements.

Upon request, the assistant generates Restoration Requirements Letters for customers who visit in person. It is also crucial for the assistant to ensure the accurate application of fee waiver codes and proper documentation whenever a fee waiver is necessary for processing customer transactions, adhering to all Fee Waiver Guidelines. Compliance with the Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Service Policy is mandatory, and the assistant may be required to work overtime or travel to other Driver License Centers as needed. Additionally, the assistant must accurately process and comply with all REAL ID regulations and is responsible for issuing and scanning documents for Non-Native Born U.S. Citizens.
