Description

American Specialty Health Incorporated is seeking a Legal Fellow to work with our Contracts department. This position will last 8 - 10 weeks during the summer of 2025 and will provide legal support to the ASH Legal Department. The purpose of this position is for ASH to participate in the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) and the Association of Corporate Counsel - San Diego (ACC) Diversity Fellowship Program. This position will provide an opportunity for diverse law students to learn and develop skills that are necessary to be successful in a law firm and corporate legal department environment.

Hourly Salary Range

American Specialty Health complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate's qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $17.84 to $20.00 Hourly Wage Range.

Remote Worker Considerations

Candidates who are selected for this position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home (WFH) in a designated work area with company-provided technology equipment. This remote/WFH position requires you have a stable connection to your Internet Service Provider with the ability to participate by video in online meetings over a reliable and consistent network (minimum internet download of 50 Mbps and 10 Mbps upload speed).

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative legal support to In-House Corporate Legal Department, Regulatory and Compliance Office such as but not limited to:
  • Provide support and research for special projects.
  • Conduct legal research based on the legal department's needs.
  • Aid in-house counsel with document drafting as needed.

Qualifications

  • First year and part-time second year law students enrolled in an ABA accredited law school in good academic standing, or equivalent experience in BA/BS undergraduate degree preferred. If equivalent experience, high school diploma required.
  • One year of work experience in a business setting preferred, such as an office, retail setting or corporate environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office as well as general Internet search experience. Outlook experience preferred.

Mobility

Primarily sedentary, able to sit for long periods of time.

Physical Requirements

Ability to speak, see and hear other personnel and/or objects. Ability to communicate both in verbal and written form. Ability to travel within the facility. Capable of using a telephone and computer keyboard. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.

Work-from-home (WFH) environment.
