DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Director of the Bureau of Equal Employment Opportunity Policy and Appeals, you will participate in the development of enterprise-wide program goals and objectives and offer recommendations to correct personnel practices and systems found to be discriminatory. You will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of program initiatives, providing strategic advice as necessary, and correcting representation imbalances found in the workforce. This professional is also responsible for guiding the development and maintenance of all EEO, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), sexual harassment, and related policies, as well as providing consultative services and training to agency staff regarding the development of programs and plans. Within this role, it is imperative to keep abreast of changes in civil rights legislation and case laws, and provide recommendations on how such changes may impact the Commonwealth's EEO and disability, pregnancy-related, and religious accommodation policies and programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Work hours are flexible.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six years of professional equal employment opportunity program experience, two of which include serving in a supervisory or administrative capacity, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years in a professional supervisory or administrative capacity.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have successfully completed coursework in legal studies, human resources, business administration, public administration, or public policy.
  • You must have experience in equal opportunity, employee relations, law/legal field, law enforcement, social science, or a related field.
  • You must have professional work experience with handling confidential and sensitive personnel or personal data.
  • You must have leadership skills and experience in building strong partnerships, both internally and externally, including with culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Extensive knowledge of ADA legal requirements and best practices.
