Our Exciting Opportunity!
Ericsson is a leading multinational technology company, operating in over 180 countries, with approximately 110,000 employees located around the world (Nasdaq: ERIC). We are at the forefront of the 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing and cloud network infrastructure era - the first company to bring 5G to four continents. Our portfolio is built on innovation and transformation.
We are now hiring for a Head of Contracting Excellence - Americas, reporting to the Global Head of Contracting Excellence and Sourcing. Contracting Excellence & Sourcing is a new unit within Ericsson's Group Function Legal Affairs (GFLA) which is focused on strengthening contracting with our most critical customers and suppliers across the globe. Good contracts with these suppliers form the backbone of our business and are critical to our continued profitability and success.
The main focus of this role will be to work closely with both legal and business stakeholders to improve contracting processes and ways of working, as well as assisting with negotiation of key global strategic and priority group contracts. We encourage active collaboration, and you can expect to work closely with highly skilled legal professionals in all other legal teams at Ericsson including, Products and Technology; IPR; and Global Disputes.
As part of the broader Contracting Excellence & Sourcing unit in GFLA, you can also expect to have opportunities to participate in other strategic contracting initiatives across the Ericsson Group and work closely with the GFLA Leadership Team. Over the long term, we actively encourage our lawyers to grow, develop new skills, and pursue their interests by exploring and applying for other roles within GFLA.
We particularly welcome applications from those who enjoy advising on a very broad basis - including issue spotting in contract reviews and negotiations; advising on negotiation strategy; identifying 'ways of working' issues affecting our contracting; and collaborating with our Disputes lawyers on high value disputes. In short, we want you to take an outsized role in improving contracting practices in Ericsson and not to be constrained by traditional lawyer expectations.
Preferred locations for this position include: Plano, Texas, Washington, DC, New York City, Toronto and Sao Paulo.
Applications will be accepted through May 16th, 2025.
What you will do:
- Provide legal advice to, and influence, Ericsson stakeholders - at all levels of the company
- Draft, review and negotiate key global strategic and priority group contracts (and related documentation), with a tailored level of support depending on the priority of the matter.
- Brief business stakeholders and other lawyers on legal and contractual risks
- Proactively escalate and raise risks and concerns with contracting practices and specific contracts.
- Actively and extensively collaborate with other lawyers across the Ericsson legal community.
- Show curiosity, ask questions and get to know the technology involved in what we sell and buy.
- Be involved in wider contracting improvement initiatives and projects across the Ericsson Group.
You will bring:
- Bar admission in any jurisdiction with good standing, with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience at a law firm and/or in-house (the ideal candidate will have both law firm and in-house experience.)
- Legal experience preferably with a focus on technology and commercial agreements.
- Extensive experience in interfacing with and integrating with high functioning teams, including in a hybrid world.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance issues related to the technology industry.
- Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and advise executives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
