About This Opportunity

JOB TITLE: Environmental Engineer
POSITION TYPE: Full time
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

This position is responsible for tactical compliance with regulatory standards with a focus on environmental controls to protect employees, provide a manufacturing environment that contributes to food safety compliance and leads sustainability practices in our manufacturing processes to help to limit environmental impact, including wastewater treatment plants in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Ensure plants are compliant with State and Federal regulations.

  • Assisting plants with meeting regulatory agency compliance requirements

  • Evaluating proposed regulatory changes and new laws to understand their potential impact on company operations.

  • Developing systems that meet or exceed Federal and State regulation compliance.

Inspecting company facilities for compliance on a regular basis.

  • Participating in, as appropriate, incident investigations, insurance inspections and O.S.H.A., E.P.A., D.N.R. investigations and inspections.

  • Inspecting company facilities to detect existing or potential hazards, recommending corrective or preventative measures as appropriate.

  • Partnering with the Safety Department to help promote a safety culture.

  • Inspecting environmental supplies and other outsourced products for compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify and develop plans for continuous improvement opportunities.

Assisting in development and training of sustainability and pollution control programs and policies.

  • Providing guidance and assistance to management personnel to ensure that safety and environmental policies are observed at all plant locations.

  • Providing environmental related training that promotes understanding and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

Completing and maintaining compliance documentation as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related field.

  • 3 years of Environmental job experience.

Physical Setting

Primarily corporate office and manufacturing plants, with up to 2/3 time spent traveling.
