Overview This procurement role focuses on Direct Construction, serving as the key interface between vendors and internal customers at Con Edison and Orange & Rockland. As a Procurement Specialist within Con Edison Procurement Operations, you will drive corporate-wide cost savings and provide primary support for internal operations across gas, steam, electric, transmission, and generating facilities. The Procurement Specialist will manage complex procurements and key supplier negotiations for materials, services, and construction and maintenance of underground and overhead gas, steam, and electric transmission facilities, as well as electric and steam generating facilities and associated corporate and environmental services, ensuring high availability and quality at the lowest total cost. The role also involves achieving corporate cost-savings targets, strategic business objectives, and corporate social responsibility goals.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborates with business users, engineers, and EH&S to address and fulfill pending requests.
- Conducts complex procurements by utilizing the Procurement Operations sourcing processes and operating policies & procedures; including developing RFQs, Supplier Bid Evaluations, Negotiations, and Supplier Relationship Management.
- Supports category management activities through providing supplier data, spend information, and any other relevant information to assist with the optimization and strategic sourcing of managed spend category.
- Implements strategies to improve Total Cost of Ownership and reduce costs.
- Coordinate with internal customers in respective purchasing categories to minimize disruptions to customer service during the procurement process.
- Manage customer expectations effectively and communicate with customer groups regarding procurement policies as these relate to customer notice provision, requests, etc.
- Identify Procurement process and technology improvement initiatives and work with Projects & Analytics function to develop initiative proposals and documentation for review.
- Manages service delivery by: supporting transactional processes (e.g. invoice questions, etc.), auditing processes, training users, etc.
- Plan needs and requisitions with internal customers, conduct procurements in line with existing contracts, and perform spot buys as necessary.
- Performs other relevant operational procurement assignments as discussed with management.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Associate's Degree and 4 years' work-related experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years' work-related experience.
Relevant Work Experience
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products, required.
- Contract Management, Contract Creation, Sourcing Strategy, Spend Analysis, Market Intelligence, Negotiation and analytical skills, Supplier Analysis, required.
- Proficiency in Contract and Procurement Law, required.
- Knowledge with RFx Development and Execution, required.
- Understanding of Supplier Analysis, Screening & Selection, required.
- Understanding of spend analytics, market intelligence, financial analysis and regulation, required.
- Understanding of Supplier Relationship Management, required.
- Oracle knowledge, preferred.
- Understanding of Con Edison operational knowledge, preferred.
