Senior Transportation Planner

STV is hiring a Senior Transportation Planner based in our Chicago, IL office. This is an outstanding opportunity for an innovative transportation planner to become part of a dynamic team of multidisciplinary transportation professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a range of complex transportation projects including transit, roadway/highway, metropolitan and municipal and environmental efforts.

What You Will Do

• Managing and leading transportation planning projects and tasks, establishing and tracking project scope, schedule, budget, and QA/QC.
• Assisting senior staff in coordinating efforts of multidisciplinary teams on a variety of transportation-related planning and engineering contracts.
• Performs and manages diverse and complex discipline work tasks requiring extensive planning, communication, and management skills.
• Developing grant applications or other funding strategies for clients.
• Coordination with professional staff and teams to ensure a consistent level of technical standards and applications on projects.
• Working alongside practice and local leadership, assisting with client development, business development, and industry participation.
• Develop and sustain strong working relationships with our clients for effective project delivery.

Required Skills

• Direct experience successfully delivering transportation planning projects, such as feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, and environmental reviews.
• Experience working with transportation agencies including federal, state, and local authorities.
• Demonstrated project management capabilities.
• Bachelor's degree required and master's degree preferred; degrees in Urban Planning, Architecture, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Geography, or related fields are preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant experience
• AICP and/or PE professional certification (preferred)
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Experience with technical writing for proposals (preferred)
