Job Description About the unit The Neonatal ICU is a Critical Care Unit within Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, caring for newborn babies born with various conditions that haven't yet been discharged to go home with their family. We build great relationships with the parents of our NICU babies since they are so frequently here at the bedside. We are the largest NICU in Michigan and care for babies from 37 counties. The NICU unit is a 108 bed unit. About Helen DeVos Children's Hospital We fight for every child. We have both inpatient and ambulatory spaces as well as a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department designated to children. Scope of work As a Nursing Technician with Corewell Health, providing top-notch patient care is paramount. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider, you'll be performing basic nursing skills, observing patients, and communicating those observations to the other members of the team. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families. This could include being floated to other units to assist with filling in for a shift as a safety attendant for a behavioral health patient, assisting the NICU providers with circumcision procedures, and assisting the Unit Secretary and Unit Aides within the NICU during breaks or gaps in the schedule. Orientation Orientation for the first week of employment as Nurse Tech requires classes on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 8am-4:30pm.
