Research Technologist I Under the supervision of the PI, a successful candidate will support ongoing research projects, assist in laboratory management, and facilitate ongoing collaborations. Independent research projects may be available based on the demonstration of mastery of routine experimental techniques and other skills, including, but not limited to, effective communication, personal management, data recording, and proactiveness. This is an excellent position for an individual who wants to gain 2 to 3 years of research experience in preparation for graduate or medical school. Preference will be given to individuals with previous experience with C. elegans; however, this is not a requirement for a successful hire. The start date for this position is July 1st, 2025. Primary Functions * Perform standard experimental techniques such as PCR, qRT-PCR, plasmids preps, DNA cloning, bacterial transformation, expression and * Prepare media and reagents for bacterial and C. elegans work * Create, organize and maintain laboratory standard operating procedures and databases (strains, plasmids, genotyping primers, etc) * Generate transgenic C. elegans strains via microinjection * Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results. * Assist with the evaluation, interpretation and assessment of experimental data and quality control of assays. * Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed. * Carry out assigned duties for ordering and maintaining supply of inventories. * Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research. * Oversee daily lab operation in the absence of the supervisor or Principal Investigator. Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management. Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
