Summary of Job Duties:The Biostatistician supports UAMS research efforts by providing expert statistical guidance to investigators. Under the supervision of Biostatistics Faculty or senior research staff, responsibilities include assisting with protocol and grant development, data preparation, data analysis, and statistical programming using software such as SAS, R, or SPSS. The role also involves contributing to the preparation of reports, manuscripts, and presentation materials.

The Biostatistician will collaborate with investigators across UAMS campuses, typically alongside faculty or senior staff, and will gain increasing independence with experience. Research areas may include clinical, basic, and population health sciences. The position requires close coordination with informatics teams, database managers, and research administrators to support research studies Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience (may be substituted with additional education).
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages, preferably SAS and/or R.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Additional experience in a research setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications or Competencies (non-essential the applicant have at the time of hire)

  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or related field PLUS two (2) years of experience.
  • Expertise in a statistical programming language, preferably SAS and/or R.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:
  • Assist investigators with protocol and grant development.
  • Perform data preparation, introductory to intermediate-level data analysis, and statistical programming using SAS, R, or SPSS.
  • Support faculty and investigators in the preparation of reports, manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications.
  • Collaborate with researchers across UAMS campuses in clinical, basic, and population health sciences.
  • Work closely with informaticists, database managers, and research administrators.
  • Assist faculty in meeting the educational goals of the department.
  • Other duties assigned.
