Job Summary and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of PMO to lead our Project Management Office focused on Fiber to the Home (FTTH) builds for telecommunications clients. The ideal candidate will be adept at turning customer requirements and construction drawings into detailed, executable project plans that drive on-time, on-budget delivery of fiber infrastructure. This role requires deep knowledge of telecom construction workflows and a proven track record of managing large-scale FTTH deployments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead the PMO function for all FTTH projects, overseeing project managers, planners, and coordinators.
  • Translate customer requirements and detailed construction drawings into comprehensive walk-back plans and execution strategies.
  • Establish project scopes, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations with a strong focus on schedule adherence and cost control.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project governance standards, methodologies, and reporting metrics across all FTTH builds.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, permitting, and field services to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Provide executive-level reporting, including project health dashboards, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and tools, with an emphasis on scalability and repeatability.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for project issues, conflicts, and critical decisions affecting FTTH deployments.
  • Ensure strict compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Leverage project management platforms like Sitetracker for real-time tracking, reporting, and project lifecycle management.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent education and work experience; Master's degree is a plus.
  • PMP certification strongly desired.
  • 10+ years of experience in project management, with 5+ years in a leadership role managing FTTH or telecom infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic network construction, including aerial, underground, and drop installations.
  • Proven ability to interpret construction drawings, site plans, and customer requirements into actionable project plans.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills, with a track record of on-time, on-budget delivery of large, multi-phase projects.
  • Experience with Sitetracker or other telecom-focused project management platforms is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present to executives and clients.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with GIS tools and permitting processes for fiber infrastructure.
  • Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or other continuous improvement certifications.
  • Experience working with utility companies, municipalities, and right-of-way regulations.
