Principal Architect, Cloud Data

We have an opportunity for a Principal Architect, Cloud Data to join our Software Architecture team in North America, reporting to the VP of Architecture. In this pivotal role, you will play a pivotal role in leading our data analytics technology and innovation strategy, focusing on cutting-edge areas like generative AI and machine learning to drive significant business benefits. You're the ideal candidate if you're a customer-obsessed, strategic thinker who is driven to take ownership, deliver business outcomes, and collaborate across teams.

Be a Contributor - What You'll Do



  • Evaluate long-term technological investments, prioritizing them based on feasibility and their alignment with business needs
  • Lead and execute large-scale machine learning projects that deliver measurable benefits to the business
  • Provide technical leadership for complex, cross-functional data analytics projects
  • Champion the design and implementation of high-performance data pipelines and extract, transform, load (ETL) processes
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to improve data quality, build robust data warehouses, and develop powerful predictive models
  • Mentor fellow engineers, sharing your expertise on designing and operating reliable distributed systems at scale



Be Prepared - What You Bring



  • 20+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Proven experience in analytics, AI/ML including generative AI, and real time data processing
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Proficiency in ETL orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Dagster) with deep expertise in SQL, PySpark, or Scala
  • Experience working with at least one major cloud suite (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and application performance characteristics
  • Demonstrated track record of designing and developing data architecture and engineering solutions for massive data volumes
  • Proven ability to formulate solutions based on abstract information and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.



Be Successful - Your Path

First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors (Blox Buddies), and map the systems and meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long term goals.

Six Months: Play a key role in developing and/or modifying the data analytics strategy and roadmaps, leverage your understanding of the current ETL processes and data pipelines and drive complex, cross-functional data analytics projects.

One Year: Successfully build new capabilities that drive business outcomes, make significant progress on achieving a world-class service operation and identify analytics applications across several domains to develop integrated solutions.
