Job Summary :

To perform receptionist and clerical duties that serves the needs of patient, physicians, associates and families through courteous reception of customers and accurate and timely completion of clerical functions for the Radiology department.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Must have a pleasant and positive attitude when dealing with customers both in person and over the telephone.

2. Must maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.

3. Perform Front Desk functions:

  • Answers telephone to offer departmental information.
  • Obtains patient information for registration and order entry.
  • Makes sure requisitions are distributed to appropriate areas with all the important information on the requisitions.
  • Assists patients to dressing rooms and gives necessary instructions to patients.
  • Insures that files are current and kept in an accurate and orderly fashion.
  • Maintains statistical reports, records, and files as required by the department.

4. Perform File Clerk Functions:

  • Insures that files are current and kept in an accurate and orderly fashion.
  • Reads reports over the phone to physicians, physician's staff or other appropriate hospital staff in a manner that is respectful of patient confidentiality.
  • Creates and/or releases imaging viewing media to other institutions, patients or nursing units upon properly authorized request.
  • Mail imaging viewing media and reports to physicians as requested.
  • Transmit incoming calls and messages to Radiologist and other departmental employees as necessary.

5. Complies with minimum standards as noted on the cover page of job description.

6. Use common sense and special medical skills to care for the sick or handicapped with regard to the patient s age and diagnosis.

Education and Experience Required:

1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

2.Six (6) months to one (1) year prior clerical/ work experience.

3. Typing and Computer experience is necessary.

4. Be able to perform simple office procedures and operate office machines.
