Position Summary:
The post doctoral research associate will work
in the recently created Mathematical & Computational Biosciences Collective
(MCBC) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The position will work under
the supervision of both Professor Casey Diekman and Professor Horacio G.
Rotstein, but directly report to Professor Casey Diekman. The position is initially for one year, with
the possibility of renewal for up to three years, subject to satisfactory
performance. The start date is September 1, 2025, or earlier.
Essential Functions:
-Conduct research in mathematical and
computational biology at the interface of theory and experiments.
-Engage in seminars, group meetings, journal
clubs.
-Assist in mentor students, and other research
activities of the MCBC and the associated Departments of Mathematical and
Biological Sciences.
-Co-mentored by a theorist and an
experimentalist and have the opportunity to interact with researchers in the
pharmaceutical industry, IBM Research, and other industrial partners.
Additional Functions:
-In addition to research
duties, the candidate might have the opportunity to teach one course per
semester, subject to availability.
-Interest in building successful interactions
with experimental scientists and experience in one or more of the following
areas: (i) neuroscience, (ii) systems biology / biochemical systems, (iii)
collective behavior, and (iv) machine learning / artificial intelligence.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
-PhD in the areas of applied
mathematics, computer science, data science, quantitative biology, or other
relevant disciplines.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated starting annual salary range for this position is $61,008 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
