A Brief Overview The Echo Lab Supervisor is responsible for the day to day operations within the Cardiac Echo Lab. Highly knowledgeable in various modalities of Pediatric Echocardiography, the Supervisor acts as a liaison between administration and the clinical staff. Responsibilities includes performance of pediatric echocardiograms and supervision of junior techs, scheduling, triaging of patients, creation of training programs, billing reconciliation, supply ordering and participation in quality assurance and process improvement projects. The Echo Lab Supervisor must act as an effective role model within the department contributing to the education, training, development and positive morale of the technical staff.
What you will do
- Oversee daily operations and ensure that self and technicians perform appropriate number of studies daily that are accurate and follow quality guidelines. Ensure that exams conducted are in a clean, safe, secure, quiet and confidential environment.
- Coordinate daily inpatient needs with portable staff. Responsible for ensuring that STAT/Critical exams are performed within a timely manner.
- Create and adjust month schedules for technicians and maintain coverage for lab and satellite sites.
- Participation and leadership figure in staff meetings, committees, QA projects, and teams in a collaborative manner in order to attain institutional and departmental goals. Provide support to Technical Manager for all department and division goals and endeavors. Assist in the teaching of students, fellows, and new technicians.
- Maintain inventory and supply records. Responsible for billing reconciliation practices for main campus and satellites. Follow cost-control standards of the hospital and department.
- Respond promptly and positively to escalated concerns with patients, families, associates, and others in a courteous and confidential manner while following hospital and departmental procedures. Demonstrate adept knowledge and ability to deliver developmental and age-appropriate care to patients.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Technical Diploma Cardiovascular Program - Required
- Associate's Degree Cardiovascular Science / Cardiac Ultrasound - Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least seven (7) years of pediatric echocardiography experience - Required
- At least one (1) year of leadership, management, or supervisory experience - Required
Skills and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge the principles of ultrasound physics and instrumentation of ultrasound systems.
- Extensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathology.
- Extensive knowledge of pediatric echocardiography.
- Advanced proficiency in operation of ultrasound equipment and digital reporting software.
- Continuing education of new technologies.
- Contributing author on one abstract or manuscript per year.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - upon hire - Required or
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - upon hire - Required or
- Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - upon hire - Required
