DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform routine meal preparation and ensure the sanitation of serving areas at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items. You will also prepare trays, measure portions, serve food, and transport trays and carts. This role requires the ability to follow food service regulations and general safety rules while frequently using common kitchen equipment, such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders. In addition, you will record use of food and non-food items on inventory sheets, read and interpret color codes for special diets, and attend Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP) Training. - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday - Sunday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will be scheduled off Monday and Tuesday.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willing and able to work in Erie County. Erie, PA
- Able to work a full-time, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM schedule
- Food service experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or other food service operation
- Work experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food/cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
- Work experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
