Bay Cove Human Services' mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts. Temporary Role Only - Limited Term - approximately 3-4 months. Job Summary: The Recovery Specialist Supervisor supports the administration and daily operation of the program by supervising Recovery Specialists on the development of treatment skills and ensuring fidelity to the evidence-based practices utilized at the program. The Recovery Specialist Supervisor supports Bay Cove's mission by ensuring the delivery of evidence-based services rooted in harm reduction and a trauma-responsive approach. This is an exempt position. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to support the processes for client admission (greeting, sign-in, orientation, search and belongings processing), transfer, discharge, ongoing observation and care, while ensuring respect and dignity.
- Interact therapeutically with clients to ensure their needs are met and ensure the safety of all clients by proactively addressing escalating behaviors and physical plant issues, by monitoring activities, by conducting and documenting checks, and by contacting on-call staff when necessary.
- Schedule, supervise, and coach Recovery Specialists to ensure required staffing ratios, role competence, and consistent application of safety procedures, including wellness/safety checks.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local licensing and contractual requirements (including DPH, HUD, SAMHSA), including the creating and submission of incident reports.
- Collaborate in the administration of the program budget, ensuring sound fiscal management via direct oversight of purchasing and direct care staffing, verification of invoice accuracy, close monitoring of supply utilization, and implementation of corrective action when expenses do not align with agency objectives.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication and coordination of care with other providers, such as DCF and DPH.
- Oversee the medication administration system and ensure that all staff are trained and complying with responsibilities of the medication administration system.
- Facilitate and promote client participation in wellness and recreational activities, as well as assisting in the facilitation of educational and recreational groups under the guidance of Counselors, Case Managers, and the Clinical Director.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, supervision, weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, and related professional development sessions as required.
- Provide crisis assessment, prevention, and needed intervention during scheduled hours and while on-call in nights and weekends as scheduled by providing on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
All BSAS licensed programs must have at least one staff member designated to serve as coordinator of one of the following three topics. If assigned, both supervisor and employee must initial to acknowledge the assignment:
- Serve as the program's Access Coordinator by developing and implementing the evaluation, plan, and annual review of the program's performance in ensuring equitable access to services as required by 105 CMR 164.040(A)(11).
- Serve as the program's HIV/AIDS Coordinator by overseeing confidential HIV risk assessment and access to counseling and testing; staff, patient, and resident HIV/AIDS and hepatitis education; and Department requirements for admission, service planning and discharge of HIV positive patients or residents.
- Serve as the program's Tobacco Education Coordinator by assisting staff in implementing BSAS guidelines for integrating tobacco assessment, education and treatment into program services.
Education and/or Experience Required
- BA/BS degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Five (5) years of experience in substance use disorder and/or behavioral health treatment settings required.
- Two (2) years experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Demonstrated leadership, delegation, communication, and team building skills.
- Demonstrated professional writing, interpersonal, and organization skills.
- Basic proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
- Demonstrated commitment to a sustained effort to seek out, acknowledge, and respect the diverse voices of all stakeholders and to advance inclusivity through every function of the role and the agency as a whole.
