Daikin Applied is seeking a talented Data Modeling Lead. The Data Modeling Lead will fulfill a critical function in driving data consistency and adoption as they curate Daikin's Medallion architecture, combining disparate datasets into cohesive, user-friendly data domains to be explored and visualized by business users. You will lead internal and external data engineers in creating data schemas that represent data domains for each of our key business functions. You will leverage Daikin's enterprise data platform and work with our digital team to ingest, curate, and serve the necessary solutions. What you will do:








* Data Architecture: Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing data architectures. Ensure alignment with industry best practices and emerging data technologies

* Data Lake, Lakehouse, and Data Warehouse Management: Design and manage relational (SQL) databases. Implement data warehousing and lakehouse solutions to support analytics and reporting. Optimize database performance and storage efficiency. Create and manage semantic models, making data accessible and meaningful to business users. Develop and maintain data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) to support business needs

* Data Integration & Engineering: Develop data pipelines to integrate structured and unstructured data from various sources. Optimize ETL/ELT processes for data ingestion, transformation, and storage. Work with big data technologies (e.g., Databricks, Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (Azure). Exercises independent judgment in developing, approving and maintaining a data hub as a central repository, managing data flow and ensuring high performance and reliability

* Data Security & Governance: Establish and maintain role-based access controls (RBAC) and row-level security. Implement data privacy measures to comply with GDPR, CCPA, and other regulations. Define and enforce data governance, security, and compliance policies. Ensure compliance with data governance policies and best practices, supporting data catalog and dictionary efforts

* Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions. Provide technical leadership in data architecture best practices. Mentor junior team members and promote a data-driven culture



* Data-Driven Decision-Making: Champion a data-centric culture, empowering business units to leverage data insights for strategic decision-making and operational excellence



* Technology and Innovation: Stay on top of or ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, seeking and implementing cutting-edge solutions that enhance our data capabilities and drive innovation within the organization



* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with key stakeholders across IT, business units, and external partners to ensure seamless integration of our master data strategy into key aspects of the enterprise



* Talent Development: As necessary or called upon, build and mentor a high-performing team of data professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence



* Regulatory Compliance: Support our compliance with global data regulations and standards, mitigating risks and protecting the organization's data assets



* Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of data initiatives, adoption, and effectiveness, driving continuous improvement and value creation

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelors Degree or experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related digital, analytical, or IT field
  • 6+ years of experience in data architecture or a related field, with a strong understanding of cloud-based data solutions
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience
  • Extensive experience with data ingestion including ADF (Azure Data Factory), Boomi, and Databricks
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing Medallion Architecture with bronze, silver, and gold layers
  • Experienced curating and modeling data into Star Schemas
  • Strong background in semantic modeling and creating meaningful, user-friendly data sets
  • Experience with Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse, and Power BI.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Masters Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture or a related field, with a strong understanding of cloud-based data solutions
  • 6+ years of people leadership experience
  • Experience with Azure, Databricks, Unity Catalog, Genie rooms, Power BI, Delta sharing, Atlan, Monte Carlo, or Semarchy
  • Experience working in a global organization with diverse teams and a deep understanding of global data regulations

Daikin Applied offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $113,000 - $188,000 (+ 20-25% bonus) in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
