Job Description
Consigli Construction is seeking a Yard Manager to oversee the operations of our Portland, Maine construction yard. This is a hands-on role ideal for a mechanically inclined, highly organized individual who enjoys working with tools, equipment, and people. The Yard Manager is responsible for the maintenance and allocation of tools, small equipment, and construction materials to support multiple active job sites. The ideal candidate has a mix of mechanical skills, basic financial awareness, and strong communication abilities.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Maintain and repair small engines and electric power tools
- Track and manage inventory of construction tools, equipment, and materials
- Safely operate and maintain yard equipment (forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, etc.)
- Load, transport, and deliver tools and materials to job sites as needed
- Keep accurate records of resource use, deliveries, and inventory
- Plan and forecast future yard needs to support upcoming projects
- Manage yard layout to maximize safety, organization, and efficiency
- Implement and follow lean processes for tool storage and deployment
- Support field operations with quick-turnaround problem-solving
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Communicate regularly with project teams and the operations group
Required Technical Skills
- Mechanical and electrical knowledge for troubleshooting and repairing small engines and power tools
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Familiarity with tablets and smartphones for communication and digital recordkeeping
- Class C Driver's License (clean driving record required)
- Basic equipment operation: forklifts, reach trucks, scissor lifts, telehandlers, etc.
- Understanding of construction materials, equipment, and supplies
- OSHA 10 minimum required (OSHA 30 preferred)
- Basic financial and profit understanding: cost awareness and resource tracking

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs/ladders regularly
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. or more (frequent lifting of heavier items such as 80-94 lb. cement bags)
- Comfortable driving for extended periods (to job sites across the region)
