Position description

The Division of Clinical Sciences at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine is recruiting neurology faculty members within the Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience. We seek dynamic clinician-educators to participate in part-time and/or full-time inpatient and outpatient clinical practice in neurology within an academic setting. The successful candidate will practice at UCR-affiliated clinical facilities in Riverside and surrounding areas including the UCR Multiple Sclerosis Program, designated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a comprehensive multiple sclerosis care center.

These positions offer excellent opportunities for teaching medical students and neurology residents while pursuing a career in academic medicine with time dedicated to teaching and scholarly activity. Fellowship training (in neuroimmunology/ multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular neurology, epilepsy, or another subspeciality) is a preferred qualification.

UCR is a world-class research university with an exceptionally diverse undergraduate student body. Its mission is explicitly linked to providing routes to educational success for underrepresented and first-generation college students. A commitment to this mission is a preferred qualification. Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.

The successful applicants must qualify for an academic appointment in Professor of Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full professor rank. The successful candidate must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree and be eligible to practice in the State of California by the time of employment. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Successful candidates will also be expected to show a strong commitment to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows and to participate in scholarly activities, research, university and public service. Applicants must qualify for medical staff privileges at UCR Health and our affiliated hospitals. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
