The starting rate for this position is $23.42, incremental increases are earned through developing skills and qualifications. Summary Maintain safe, clean, and reliable operations of the feed mill. Manufacture feed for all layers and pullets in a timely manner while meeting Company standards of feed safety and quality. Work closely with the Mill Manager. Key Responsibilities: * Mixing and loading poultry feed for delivery to multiple farm locations * Apply knowledge of SQF and Safe Food/Safe Feed practices during all mill activities * Receiving and maintenance of ingredient inventories * Preventative maintenance and repair of mill and related equipment * Provide back-up support to Mill Manager as required * Maintain a clean, safe work environment with emphasis on housekeeping and pest control. * Assure operation of mill in compliance with FDA requirements, including that of medicated feed and Food Safety Modernization Act. * Manufacture feed for all layers and pullets to DBF standards. * Train and direct mill employees * Other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience * High school diploma or equivalent * Agricultural experience is preferred * Prior experience in a feed mill is preferred. * Training in preventative maintenance programs, mechanical and electrical systems desirable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Good communication skills with a teamwork attitude are essential. * Self-motivation with a drive for safe quality feed is required. * Computer skills, Word, Excel required. * Mathematical ability is required. * Knowledge of production agriculture desirable. Physical Demands Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 60 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to climb up to 150ft by ladder. Work Environment Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Employee may work in outside environment where temperatures vary seasonally. Clothing must be worn based on seasonal weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Certain areas may be loud enough to require ear protection. All personal protective equipment will be provided and required during certain working conditions and in certain areas.
