Summary:
Operational Technology Data Solutions manager provides leadership and management of the OT Data Solutions division to ensure efficient, reliable, and secure operations of OT data application systems. OT data applications gather and analyze PMU (Phasor Measurement Unit) data, Power Quality Data, and other non-operational data transmitted to control centers. This manager also supports data applications related to Transmission Energy Management System (EMS) and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS). In addition, this role develops and enforces processes and procedures to ensure compliance with ERCOT protocols and applicable NERC CIP Standards.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the daily work of OT Data Solutions engineers and analysts in support of business priorities.
- Leads the OT Data Solutions team to achieve company business goals and the individual's development objectives.
- Oversees operations to provide system support, analysis, development, programming, and hardware maintenance for OT Data Solutions application systems utilized by the Real-time Operations, Distribution Control, and other Electric Operations groups.
- Interfaces with Telecom, Substation Operations, and ERCOT to monitor and maintain OT non-operational data communication.
- Responsible for assisting Cyber Security and regulatory compliance programs for ERCOT protocols and NERC standards.
- Reviews and approves scope of work, implementation schedules, solution techniques and algorithms for functional enhancements and modifications to systems used to support Real-Time Operations, Distribution Control, and other CNP organizations.
- Evaluates vendor systems and solutions based on business needs and end-user requirements.
- Participate in user group activities, with other electric utilities and organizations engaged in similar projects, to identify common problem areas and solutions; and develop function implementation experiences, and methodology for improving system performance.
- Researches and explores new technologies and initiatives in line with longer term control center applications (EMS, ADMS, etc.), and other technology support goals.
Education:
The Position Requires Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
Experience:
Requires minimum of ten (10) years of experience related to control center systems: EMS/ADMS/SCADA.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certifications, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs):
- Able to understand the electric transmission and the distribution grid technologies.
- Able to communicate technical issues effectively; both orally, and in writing.
- Able to understand SCADA protocols and RTU communication.
- Able to understand software maintenance, development, and quality control procedures and practices is a plus.
- Able to understand ERCOT protocol requirements and applicable NERC standards.
- Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses and do so timely
- Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company's values and business practices and do both consistently
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work under stressful working conditions.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or reach repeatedly, on a daily basis.
- Ability to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
- Ability to operate office machines including telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, laptop, mobile phone, etc.

Working Conditions:
- Ability to work a varied schedule to complete projects and meet deadlines in response to changing demands.
- Ability to work after normal business hours and weekends on occasion.
- Ability to travel to attend meetings, industry or professional association conferences and stay overnight as required.
- Ability to perform work indoors in an office environment.
- May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts
