Responsibilities
Primary Purpose of Job Under the direction of the LAIP Quality Lead, this position is responsible for applying technical expertise and manufacturing engineering skills to all phases of Cleveland's forging producibility and manufacturing. This position does not supervise other personnel. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of management across all departments at Cleveland Operations. Externally, the incumbent communicates with vendors, customers, and suppliers as needed. Accountability Objectives Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leveraging expertise in post forging back-end quality processing in a hands-on manner with hourly workforce
- Implementing and maintaining quality assurance systems, procedures, and equipment to meet customer and Howmet quality requirements.
- Conducting development programs to support product and process quality, productivity, continuous improvement, and safety performance.
- Determining conformity or non-conformity of the quality system with the specified documentation and implementation requirements.
- Applying the Corrective Action Response system through non-conformance evaluation, investigation, reviewing, reporting, responding to customers, and internal follow-up activities. Assisting in the facilitation of CARs, as necessary, to ensure timely root cause correction, verification of effectiveness, and closure.
- Participating and assisting with customer audits, as required, which may include audit planning, internal preparation, making data packages, serving as an audit escort, and coordinating post-audit activities.
- Applying Final Inspection Departmental Quality Assurance Support through verification and establishment of inspection methods and procedures, along with ensuring conformance to product surface quality and specification requirements. Assisting with departmental quality and productivity improvement products. Providing Quality Assurance Technical and Quality Systems support to both internal and supplier final inspection facilities, as needed.
- Assisting production personnel proactively to resolve product or process issues. Verifying the production readiness of new forged products.
- Conducting internal audits as scheduled including the preparation of audit reports, the initiation of associated corrective actions, and the maintenance of audit files.
- Conducting and supporting Quality Engineering with internal and customer Delegated Source Inspection activities to ensure compliance to quality requirements related to products and overall customer quality expectations.
- Striving to continually improve products and processes to enhance or exceed internal and external customer expectations, while determining the effectiveness of adopted quality systems.
- Monitoring and tracking process and product control parameters to validate process reliability and capability. Participating in real-time process management support.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications For this position to be successful, the incumbent should have:
- A minimum of 5 years of forging experience in an aerospace forging facility, as well as technical knowledge of related quality requirements, GD&T, and problem-solving skills.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications For this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with:
- The ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) and delegate while maintaining forward motion on key deliverables.
- A high degree of interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others, including those not under their direct supervision.
- Demonstrated ability of problem solving, systems thinking, project management, and team building.
- Knowledge of conventional aluminum processing, Forging Design, and Quality Systems Standards (ex. ISO9000, AS9100, QS-9000, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of the forging process and standard practices that would normally be acquired through extensive experience in various technical assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to read and critically assess blueprints, part drawings, and customer specifications. (suggested)
