Position Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to provide short-term personal, social, emotional, and developmental consultation services for students. The Student Support Counselor may act as a Judicial Affairs Assistant when the Judicial Affairs Officer is unavailable. The primary contact for this position will be on Stark State College's Main campus for issues relating to student mental health. The Assistant will also provide training to the campus community for recognizing and handling students in need of assistance; develop and monitor intervention plans, and provide emergency counseling services.

Typical Hours of Work: This is a part-time position working a maximum of 29 hours per week.

  • You are effective at providing assessment, initial diagnosis, referrals to other mental health services and student support
  • You are able to provide effective crisis assessment and intervention services for students.
  • You can establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with local mental health professionals and other community resources to coordinate treatment services and referrals.
  • You are comfortable assisting the Judicial Affairs Officer with students engaged in the disciplinary process as outlined in the student handbook.

To be considered you'll need:

  • Licensure required from the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and MFT Board
  • A Master's degree
  • Professional counseling licensure (LPC, LPCC, LPCC-S preferred)
  • A minimum of two years of relevant counseling experience, preferably with college students
