Purpose of Position

The Senior Technical Sales/Proposal Manager provides critical support of FlightSafety International's Sales/Business Development efforts through the written and verbal communication of FlightSafety's value to potential Customers. The Technical Sales/Proposal Manager is responsible for creating proposals that answer technical, commercial, schedule and pricing requirements. This position is also responsible for identifying all requirements, creating plan to respond, documenting all responses and verifying they are accurate, and generating winning proposals by managing, supporting and participating in all phases of the bid and proposal process.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Participate in Business Development life cycle - from initial requirement shaping, to proposal response and capture, final award and hand-off for execution.
  • Provide proposal leadership and guidance to cross-functional proposal team members.
  • Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks, including the work of others assigned to support those tasks.
  • Help train, mentor, and provide direction on daily work to other proposal team members.
  • Decompose Customer requirements into an actionable plan to provide a full response, including technical information, commercial terms, schedule and pricing.
  • Demonstrate technical understanding of the Customer requirements and FlightSafety's products and services through written documentation and verbally.
  • Create written communication of technical and commercial terms to meet Customer requirements for the purpose of developing costs and pricing, and for the written communication of FlightSafety's offerings.
  • Verify proposals correlate to labor, material and other costing.
  • Interact professionally across all levels, including engineering, finance, legal and supporting staff.
  • Interact within a cooperative environment through beneficial behavior, commitment to common goals, contribution to problem solving, communication of ideas and suggestions, and encouragement to other employees and departments.
  • Lead and facilitate discussions between Customer and FlightSafety to clarify requirements and communicate offerings.
  • Provide status reporting regarding proposal status to Sales/Business Development employees and FlightSafety management.
  • Create, maintain and manage capture management tools and processes to make proposal development more efficient.
  • Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FlightSafety materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FlightSafety products.
  • Some travel may be required.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred
Minimum Experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Understanding of engineering environments and aviation training
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret RFPs, RFIs, RFQs and technical procedures
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite or related software, in particular Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project
  • Ability to adhere to all applicable company processes and government regulations
  • Ability to build strong business relationships and quickly establish trust and rapport
  • Strong communication abilities, including through written, illustrative and verbal methods.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively throughout the organization, both with the sales team and sales management, and all supporting business functions
